Lesh Creates and Melina worked on this piece together from February- April 2023 after wanting to combine their art styles.
Lesh illustrated the Tuatara using traditional acrylic paint and indian ink pen, once completed it was scanned for Melina to add her digital foliage, which consists of ferns, kawakawa, NZ hebe, and Bartlett's rātā blossoms.

The artwork showcases some of our amazing native flora and fauna found here in New Zealand. You'll find a mix of both common and rare species, including ferns, kawakawa, NZ hebe, and the beautiful Bartlett's rātā blossoms. Did you know that the tuatara is a reptile species that has been around since the time of the dinosaurs? Unfortunately, their population is struggling nowadays. On a brighter note, we've also included the stunning Entoloma hochstetteri, a vibrant blue mushroom found only in our native forests and even featured on our NZ$50 bill. And last but not least, the Bartlett's rātā blossoms are a rare sight, with only 13 left in the wild and too spread out for pollination.
